This Cookie Policy explains how CombyCode Inc., doing business as STRAIW ("we", "us", "our"), uses cookies and similar storage technologies on straiw.com and any other site or service that links to this policy (the "Services").
It tells you what these technologies are, which ones we use, what they do, and how you can control them. Read it together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you come back, the browser sends the file back, so the site can recognise your device and remember things about your visit.
Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another organisation — an analytics or advertising provider, for example — are called third-party cookies.
A cookie that disappears when you close your browser is a session cookie. One that stays until a set expiry date or until you delete it is a persistent cookie.
Several other technologies do a similar job and are covered by the same rules and by this policy:
- Local storage and session storage — browser storage areas a site can read and write. This is what straiw.com actually uses.
- Web beacons, pixels and tracking tags — tiny invisible images or scripts embedded in a page or email that report back when they are loaded.
- Software development kits (SDKs) and device identifiers, used mainly in mobile apps.
Throughout this policy we use "cookies" as shorthand for all of these.
2. The categories we use
We group everything we store into three categories. You control the second and third; the first cannot be switched off because the site cannot function without it.
- Strictly necessary. Required to deliver the Services you asked for: keeping the site secure and stable, remembering your display preferences, carrying your task context into the chat, and recording your cookie choices so we do not ask you again on every page. These do not require your consent under the ePrivacy rules, but we still tell you about them.
- Analytics. Helps us understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages people read, where they lose interest, whether a change made things better — so we can improve it. Off by default.
- Marketing. Used to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and to show you STRAIW content on other platforms. Off by default.
3. What we store today
Every item below is first-party, set by straiw.com itself, and stored in your browser's local storage rather than as a cookie. None of it is shared with any third party.

A short-lived cookie called straiw_oauth also exists for the few seconds a Google sign-in is in progress. It holds a single random value used to check that the sign-in finishing is the one you started, and it is deleted as soon as that check is done.
We also keep a server-side copy of your consent decision — the reference number, the categories you chose, the policy version, the time, and standard connection data such as your IP address and browser user agent. We are required to be able to demonstrate that consent was given, and this is how we do it. It is described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Third-party services
Active now
Google Fonts. The site loads its two typefaces from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Google does not set cookies for this, but your browser does make a request to Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address and general browser information. This is a strictly necessary part of rendering the page as designed. If you would rather this did not happen, blocking those two domains in your browser will leave the site fully usable with a fallback typeface.

The services below are named in our Privacy Policy and are planned as STRAIW grows. None of them is loaded on the site today. When they are introduced, the analytics and marketing ones will load only after you have given consent for the matching category, and this table will be updated before they go live.

5. How to change or withdraw your consent
You can change your mind at any time, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. Use the button below, or the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.
Withdrawing consent does not affect anything that was lawfully done while your consent was still in place. If you clear your browser storage, your consent record goes with it and we will ask you again on your next visit.
6. Controlling storage in your browser
Your browser also lets you block or delete cookies and local storage directly. Be aware that blocking strictly necessary storage will break parts of the site — your theme choice will not stick, and the consent bar will reappear on every page because we have nowhere to record your answer.
If you use any other browser, look for cookie or site-data settings in its help pages.
7. Do Not Track
Most browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. There is still no agreed industry standard for how sites should respond to it, so we do not currently change our behaviour based on a DNT signal. Because no tracking technology runs on this site without your explicit consent, leaving DNT on or off makes no practical difference here. If a standard is adopted, we will update this policy.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy — for example, when we introduce a new service that stores something on your device. The date at the top always shows the current version.
If a change affects what we store or why, we will ask for your consent again rather than assume your previous answer still applies: the consent bar reappears automatically whenever the policy version changes, and in any case at least once every 12 months.
